Code of Conduct
Effective date: 2026-05-11
Human Wants to Learn ("HWTL") is a community of learners, educators, and contributors. We are committed to providing a welcoming, respectful, and harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of age, body size, disability, ethnicity, gender identity, experience level, nationality, personal appearance, race, religion, or sexual identity and orientation.
Expected behavior
- Be respectful and considerate in all interactions — in sessions, comments, registry PRs, and support requests.
- Give constructive feedback and accept it graciously.
- Focus on what is helpful for learning. Disagreement on technical topics is welcome; personal attacks are not.
- Respect tutors' time and expertise. Respect learners' questions, no matter how basic.
Unacceptable behavior
- Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination of any kind.
- Sexual language, imagery, or unwelcome advances.
- Trolling, derogatory comments, or personal attacks.
- Publishing others' private information without consent.
- Sustained disruption of sessions or discussions.
- Using the platform for any illegal purpose.
- Attempting to circumvent safety, moderation, or rate-limiting measures.
Reporting violations
If you experience or witness a violation of this Code of Conduct, please report it:
- Via our reporting form (account required)
- By email to safety@human-wants-to-learn.dev
All reports are reviewed by the HWTL team. We will respond as quickly as we can, typically within 48 hours. Reports are treated confidentially — we will not disclose the reporter's identity to the reported party without consent.
Consequences
Violations may result in:
- Warning — a private notice describing the violation and expected behavior change.
- Temporary suspension — restricted access to Sessions, comments, and/or contributions for a defined period.
- Permanent ban — removal from the platform with no refund of outstanding credits.
The severity of the response depends on the nature, frequency, and context of the violation. We reserve sole discretion in making enforcement decisions.
Scope
This Code of Conduct applies to all HWTL spaces: the website, tutoring sessions (video + chat), registry PRs, GitHub Discussions, support interactions, and any other context where community members interact under the HWTL banner.
